Updated Masking Guidance on Penn's Campus

May 21, 2021

Dear Students and Colleagues,
As we look ahead to brighter days filled with warmth and sunshine, we are also seeing some loosening of restrictions related to COVID-19 in our region and across the country as the rate of those who are vaccinated continues to increase. We are pleased to announce that, in accordance with the guidance from the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, beginning May 21, 2021, the University will no longer require the use of masks while outdoors for those who are fully vaccinated. Being fully vaccinated means that it has been two weeks since the final dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Minors and those participating in summer camps are still required to wear masks while on campus, regardless of vaccination status.
We hope that this news brings some sense of normalcy back to campus and that we can all remain responsible Penn citizens to help protect each other and those in our surrounding communities.
In good health,
Dr. Dubé
